All About Symbian:

Nokia and their N-Gage sub-brand are sponsoring the GCDC 2007 game developers’ conference, which takes place in August in Leipzig, Germany. Nokia’s Next Gen Gaming Platform
is due to launch shortly afterwards in September, so there should be a
complete unveiling of the platform at the conference if not earlier.

I wish Nokia the best of luck in the gaming arena. They’re going to need it.

Actually, I think they are quite well positioned for the _mobile_ gaming market. As we have seen N95, N93 and soon others are capacble of PSP quality graphics. Furthermore, casual gamers looking to play a game for 5 min at a time, are now part of their target audience, wisely so. Networks are getting fast enough to support much better multigaming. Add some gaming oriented controls in a model or two, and huge consumer base is right there for them! The original brave/foolish/embarrassing N-Gage and QD have tought them many a valuable lesson.
