In Accessories

These days, a photo of the PerCushion Bluetooth Pillow is circulating around the Web. This concept device is a cell phone accessory that aims to extend the cell phone’s reach to your bed. Pairing with this pillow (trust me, I know how it sounds) should be as simple as with any other Bluetooth handsfree device. But, can you sleep with on your handsfree? Can this be a new niche market? We’ll see… (via: CoolestGadgets)

In Devices

Wow, this is something interesting. A phone called Thunder Super Radio HiFi boasts an ultra-huge speakers on the back, that according to GearFuse should provide listeners with an extremely loud and clear sound quality. The device seems designed for the usage in the hoods and ghettos around the world, and among other things sports a 2.4″ screen, a 1.3 MP camera and the microSD expansion slot. The Thunder Super Radio HiFi is a dual-band GSM phone, and is currently available in Taiwan.

In AT&T, Announcements, Content

NapsterAT&T (NYSE: T) and Napster announced a deal, under which the carrier will start offering 3 millions songs for free download for a year via Napster To Go service, to its qualified subscribers.

Starting from Sunday, April 1, this $180 valued freebie will allow users to download, organize and create playlists on a PC, and then sync them to their handset or a compatible music device. Yes, the download of the songs will also be possible.

Speaking of qualified subscribers, AT&T certainly knows how to make things tough for the blogging community. My suggestion is to visit the local carrier’s store, or go through the official release and see if you’re among the lucky ones. (via: Engadget)

In Apple, Rumors, iPhone

iPhone release dateWe all know that iPhone is coming in June, but when exactly in June was something that many people have been pondering about. Now, we seem to know the exact date – June 11!

Apparently, Cingular’s customer service manager gave that information to the News.com reporter. Somehow, the date doesn’t surprise us, as on that same day Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s Worldwide Developers Conference starts.

Let’s hope that the developers will get all the specs of the upcoming device and prepare some neat apps for it. :)

LG adds Google apps to phones

By Dusan Belic on Friday, March 30th, 2007 at 2:59 AM PST
In Applications, Devices, LG, Partnerships, Services

LG Electronics and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) have announced a deal under which the Korean handset maker will bundle Google’s popular mobile applications, including Google Maps, GMail and Blogger, to its handset.

LGApparently, LG plans to release at least 10 new mobile phones with pre-installed Google apps in North America, Europe and Asia this year, with first shipments starting in Q2 2007.

However, if a cell phone is bought with the contract, a carrier is the one that picks which software comes pre-installed on the device. My guess is that this deal will only affect only the LG phones bought unlocked (without a contract).

In Ideas and rants

Every S60 device has a speaker phone.

Why not make an application that you start, hit record, place your "multimedia computer" on the table and just have a conversation.

When you’re done just hit stop. Add whatever text you wish. Upload.

Portable podcasting. Why don’t we have it?

This doodle couldn’t be any more true

I’m a huge Hugh MacLeod fan. He doodles on the back on business cards, scans them and shares them with the world. Topics range from his years living in NY, the blogosphere, various technology companies, sex and love.

This post made me seriously think about Nokia (NYSE: NOK):

Why were the S60 blogs started? Are there going to be any more Nokia blogs launched? The phones coming out today have been in the making for several years, how can Nokia be nimble enough to take feedback from the public and apply it to their products?

Out of a company with more than 50,000 employees, I can count the number of Nokians blogging on my fingers and toes. What about the others? They have a voice, but why aren’t they engaging in the conversation?
