This is some awesome stuff if it actually works the way it does in this demo. I’m curious to feel what the touch screen feedback is like.

Stefan, perhaps you’ve hear of MyOrigo instead? They are the origin of this technology, before they (according to F-Origin website history section) got incorporated. And MyOrigo was/is (of course ;) ) based in Finland (Oulu if I am not mistaken).

At the time when their protos came out (maybe a year and half ago?) there were many rumors about them having struck a deal with a major cell manufacturer, although the folks I heard it from did not know which one (although guessed its not Nokia). I hope Nokia is still talking to these guys. The interface is impressive, even if only for the tilting controls, which seem very intuitive.

Those “sweep over the screen with your finger” controls kind of resemble those Nokia concept videos that came about a couple of months back..

Um, I don’t know if Apple qualifies as a ‘major cell manufacturer’, but practically everything in the demo (with the exception of the tactile feedback) seems to have been incorporated into the iPhone. Have to wonder if we’ll see lawsuits fly once the iPhone is launched.

Well, iPhone reorients the screen when turned around, but does not react to tilting like this one does. Nor does it react to simply sweeping your finger over the screen (as this proto seems to do), you have touch the screen to “flick it”.

MyOrigo advertised this technology back in 2003 kriegspel and they went quiet for a while. check the internet for their details. Google is your master.
