More mobile phones than citizens in the EU

By Dusan Belic on Monday, April 30th, 2007 at 12:23 AM PST
In Research

With 478.4 million mobile phones in use, there are more mobile subscribers than citizens in the European Union. At present, mobile subscribers are at the 103% of the total population of the EU member states, up from 95% in 2005.

More mobile phones than citizens in the EUReport conducted by the European Commission suggest that penetration is highest in Luxembourg (171%), Italy (134%) and, surprisingly, Lithuania (133%). On the other hand people in France (82%), Malta (83%) and Slovakia (86%) are at the “bottom” of the list.

My two cents: I would love to have a powerful handset (i.e. smartphone) that is able to accept more than a single SIM card — something we used to have with the old Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Startac. This way I’m certain most of us who currently own two or more phones, would switch back to the single, dual-SIM device. (via: Textually)

Looking for the ultimate business device? Not sure whether you want to go Symbian or Windows Mobile? The answer is here.

Nokia E90 vs HTC Advantage

AllAboutSymbian has confronted two high-end devices, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E90 Communicator and HTC Advantage, both of them offering a wide array of business features. According to their tests Nokia E90 outperformed its Windows Mobile counterpart. Why? Because it’s much better as a phone and is quite smaller. Still, the HTC Advantage has its strengths like capacity and Outlook integration. Here’s the link to the full article.

Fuzzy Dice for your phone by Louis Vuitton

Fuzzy Dice for Your PhoneWe’ve already seen the Bulgari cell phone straps and thought how nice they would fit our existing handsets. Now we have Louis Vuitton cell phone dices — yet another way for the rich people (that’s rich women) to distinguish themselves from the crowd.

The “Fuzzy Dice for Your Phone” boast custom monograms etched into two resin cubes. Next, two cubes are outfitted with embedded Swarovski crystals and Louis Vuitton logos, dangling from a short gold chain.

Interested? You better be hot for them, as you’ll have to pay $240 to own them. Actually, to give them away to someone REALLY special… (via: BoyGeniusReport)

Congratulations Ricky on getting into the blogger relations program!

Ricky is the self proclaimed Symbian Guru and according to his latest blog post he is going to get a N95 courtesy of the blogger relations program!

That is awesome! I gave my N95 back to my friend who shall remain nameless yesterday and I would be lying if I said I was going to miss it. I love keyboards too much and the E61i that Maria Kellokumpu gave me is utterly incredible. Expect a review of that device after I had a chance to use it for an entire work week.

The only N series device that interests me is the N76, but no one I know has one of those. Paul from myphonerocks has one.

Enjoy your N95 Ricky, I can’t wait to hear your rant!

Apparently, some “clever” searching on Google (NSDQ: GOOG) – “taken with an Apple iPhone” – was all it took for MobileGuerilla to find these pics on Flickr. Now, we know that the picture has been automatically tagged based on embedded EXIF data (picture information). But, we can’t be sure that the EXIF data in the photo is authentic.
