With the reliability of the N95 GPS system … I hope they don’t mess this one up.

GPS needs to start up in less than 5 seconds or somewhere around 2400% faster than the N95.

One comment on “GPS needs to start up in less than 5 seconds”:

You may want to adjust your expectations somewhat — my Raymarine C70 navigation console on my boat with external GPS antenna and DGPS takes anywhere between 30 sec and a few minutes to acquire the satellites. After a longer break downloading the almanac required for the GPS to operate can take even 5 minutes.

I remember how our couple of years old handheld MLR GPS took about 15 minutes to acquire the satellites after being offline over the winter.

Yes..Stefan can be a bit demanding sometimes..:). I remember that my cousin’s TomTom car navigator (one of the latest devices)took about 5 minutes to take on the satellites after being parked underground.

I think this debate is the same as with the camera. Buy a SLR if you want to take SERIOUS pictures and buy a separate GPS device if that is a critical feature for you.

N95*s GPS works fine if you are not that demanding. I think it’s fun to use the SPORTS TRACKER and watch your route and statistics after jogging..:). It adds value to the device.
