Following the Sony Ericsson K810 clone, Chinese handset manufacturers have been busy ripping off other devices. Next on their list was the stylish W880 Walkman phone. As you can see from the image bellow, this clone is quite a solid replica of the original device, even boasting both Sony Ericsson and Walkman branding. Fortunately, savvy consumers can note its thickness — it’s 5 mm thicker than the original device.

Of course, the two devices also differ in terms of specs. The so called F1 phone boasts a 2.2″ 176×220 screen (as opposed to QVGA 320×240 screen on the W880), 1.3 MP camera (W880′s camera has 2 megapixels), and a microSD card slot (W880 uses Memory sticks). We don’t have the images of F1′s UI, but it can hardly match the one of the original W880.

At the end I’ll repeat the word of caution — look carefully when you’re buying a phone, especially if you’re travelling across Asia. Today’s replicas are getting better and better. Yes, you will pay less initially, but you can squash your guaranty as soon as you leave the store.
