It’s only four days left and we have more information about the iPhone from the people who actually had a chance to try it out. Some of them discover a bit disappointing lack of features of the Apple’s handset. Without further adieu, let’s start:

Apple iPhone

  • The keyboard was simply described as “disappointing”, as it’s almost impossible to type with two thumbs. Using a single thumb is way more convenient, but than again, text input is slower this way.
  • The text auto-correction sucks for complicated words. At present it’s only usable for simple words. Still, this is fairly easy thing to solve by adding more words in the dictionary.
  • The touchscreen requires hard presses to register an input? Wha?
  • The Bluetooth headset is one of those that fit your inner ear. It’s very small and elegant, yet has dedicated volume and call control buttons. It will come with the “magnetic” charging dock (think MagSafe) and and will cost more than 100 bucks.
  • The scrolling somewhat kills the address book. You can not type the name and expect it to be found in the database.
  • YouTube doesn’t work over EDGE at all — you’ll need a WiFi in order to watch videos!
  • iPhone can only view PDF, Word and Excel documents. Edit is not an option at this stage.
  • Voice mail is treated as a regular sound file – meaning you can rewind it whenever you want.
  • Google Maps will provide turn by turn directions and up-to-date traffic information.
  • It’s still not clear whether songs could be used as ringtones.

There you go. Some things are good, some are bad. We still have to check out everything for ourselves. Four days left, be patient…
