Memories of PSION’s beginnings

While browsing the forums on Michael Jerz’s My-Symbian website I stumbled across this thread which happened to lead me to a document written by Richard Harrison about the beginnings of PSION. It really is an eye opener when you read things like:

The Organiser II followed in 1986, with a 2-line by 16-character display. Over the next few years it was developed into a 4-line by 20-character version, with up to 64K of both RAM and ROM. Such an abundance of hardware resources allowed us to develop a range of applications, including – in 1987 – a surprisingly sophisticated (for its time) spreadsheet that ran on all versions of the Organiser II.

To have been around during those days must have been amazing. I now miss my Revo terribly and can’t remember the number of the bloke who I sold it to. His name was George and was the manager at my local super market. I always compilied my shopping list ahead of time and as soon as I walked past his office near the dairy section he would poke his head out and ask me questions about what exactly I had in my hand. During those days a few people had Palm Organizers, but I hated Graffiti or worse yet typing on the on screen keyboard. It is because of the internet I found out about PSION and imported a Series 3mx and then later a Revo.

Memories really are beautiful.
