Verizon launches new Mobile Web 2.0; Adds more content, services

Verizon Mobile Web 2.0It’s a competitive world out there among the carriers. Every new service and/or device counts, hence Verizon Wireless decided to redesign its Mobile Web 2.0 offering and add more reasons for its existing subscribers to pour out additional five bucks on top of their monthly bills.

The newly redesigned service builds on top of the earlier offering — which included quick access to email, news, sports, and weather information — but the new design and improved navigation of Mobile Web 2.0 makes it easier for Verizon’s users to get the news and entertainment they want while on-the-go.

Among the new features, the carrier basically highlights two things: 1) new content channels (local, connect, tools, commute and money), and 2) the overall usability improvements (new search, improved graphics and content placement, 10 button navigation, and more). In its releases, the latter is highlighted with examples of Bank of America and USA TODAY — users will be able to access their BoA accounts from mobile phones or get their dose of daily information much faster.

This certainly sounds appealing, especially when you know you can get it for mere $5 a month. You’ll need the “Get It Now” capable handset, from where you can register for Mobile Web 2.0 service by visiting the “News and Info” category under the “Get It Now” menu. Earlier Mobile Web 2.0 user? Well, we’re not talking to you — by now, you’ve most probably seen the new site. 🙂
