One of the leading software developers for the Symbian platform thinks he has something to add on top of the existing PIM functionality of the Symbian S60 smartphones. I certainly agree Nokia’s PIM app could use some fine tuning, hence more advanced users rely on Papyrus or Aqua Calendar. Is there room for another calendar application? I think there is. For instance, users — myself included — have been begging for birthday linkage between calendar and contacts for some time. In addition, we want the calendar that works as fast as possible, and by now Epocware should have the expertise needed for the task.

Handy Calendar preview

Anyway, the new application will be called Handy Calendar and the public beta testing is starting soon. In the meantime, feel free to drop your two cents about the upcoming app on MySymbian forums.

I might be interested in such an app as the Calendar app which came with my nokia e61i is not the best.

I love the calendars in these blackberry handsets

Would like web-based calendar with local app, like Gmail on my N95. Preferably with advanced recurrence specificity. Contacts integration is a no-brainer. How about text and voice recognition, too?!

I`m sorry, but there`s no big differens to the build in nokia calendar. Only the colours are different. You can´t chose categories, there are no icons you can show in monthly, weekly or daily view, there´s no real way to change the colours of anything the way you want or/and need…
So why should people buy a calendar, wich does the same big nothing like the build in one. Have a look at SBSH and what you can do with this calendar. Have a looa at all the other calendars even from WM-platforms, e.g. like AgendaOne and so on. With the help of icons and category colours, each of the other calendars make clear with only one look, what kind of dates you have when. On Handy Calender you only can see, that you have dates. It could be a working day, a private date, holiday or whatever. You see NOHTING!!!

So please, what`s the use in copying sth. wich already exists and just use some colours to make it look more professional???
