Realme has launched the P4x 4G in select global markets, starting with Malaysia. The phone sits in a crowded mid-range segment where battery life and affordability tend to win customers over, and Realme is clearly leaning into both.
The 4G variant comes more than six months after the Realme P4x 5G hit shelves in India back in December 2025. The two phones share a similar design and name, but the 4G version actually packs a larger battery and runs on a different processor. That is a somewhat unusual move, but it makes sense for markets where 5G infrastructure is still catching up.
The phone runs Android 16 out of the box, which is notable for a budget device. Most phones in this price range launch with older Android versions and receive the latest OS as an update months later, if at all.
Price and availability
The Realme P4x 4G is priced at MYR 799 (roughly $170) in Malaysia for the only available configuration: 4GB RAM and 256GB storage. It comes in two colors, Rally White and Phantom Blue, and can be bought through Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok.
For context, the 5G version launched in India at Rs. 15,499 for the base 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The 4G variant is clearly aimed at a different market with different connectivity needs and price expectations.
A battery that stands out
The headline spec here is the 8,000mAh battery. That is 1,000mAh more than what the 5G version offers, which is a meaningful difference in real-world usage. Both variants support 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging, so topping up the larger cell should not take significantly longer.
An 8,000mAh battery in a phone this size puts the P4x 4G in the same conversation as dedicated battery-focused phones like the Samsung Galaxy M series or the Moto G Power line. For users who hate reaching for a charger mid-day, this is a genuine selling point.
Display and design
The phone has a 6.8-inch LCD panel with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,570 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio sits at 90.4 percent, and the refresh rate goes up to 120Hz, with touch sampling reaching 240Hz. Peak brightness is rated at 700 nits, with a High Brightness Mode that pushes it to 900 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display.
The build is IP64-rated, meaning it can handle dust and splashing water, though it is not fully submersible. The phone measures 166.48 x 78.23 x 8.78mm and weighs 219 grams, which is on the heavier side but expected given the large battery.
Processor and storage
The P4x 4G runs on a Unisoc T7250 octa-core chip paired with an Arm Mali-G57 GPU. It comes with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The storage is expandable via a memory card, which is a practical addition that many phones in this segment are quietly dropping.
The Unisoc T7250 is a capable chip for everyday tasks, though it is not in the same performance bracket as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 series or MediaTek’s Dimensity 7000 line. For the target audience, it should handle social media, video streaming, and light gaming without issues.
Camera and connectivity
On the camera front, the setup is straightforward:
- 50-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, autofocus, and a 76-degree field of view
- 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture
There is no ultra-wide or telephoto lens listed, which keeps things simple. The front camera is adequate for video calls and casual selfies but nothing more.
Connectivity options include:
- Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac)
- Bluetooth 5.2
- USB Type-C
- 3.5mm headphone jack
The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and supports face unlock. Sensors on board include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, e-compass, accelerometer, and gyroscope.
Who is this phone for?
The Realme P4x 4G is clearly built for buyers in markets where 4G is still the primary network standard and battery endurance matters more than raw performance. The combination of an 8,000mAh battery, a large screen, Android 16, and a sub-$200 price point is genuinely competitive.
The trade-offs are real too. The HD+ resolution on a 6.8-inch screen means pixels are more visible than on a Full HD display, and the Unisoc chip is not the fastest option available. But for the price, Realme has put together a package that covers the basics well and adds a battery size few competitors can match.
