The day after the Nokia Go Play event I was given a Nokia N95 8GB for a few hours to test. I totally forgot about these images since they were not in my gallery, but instead in my inbox since I sent them to myself via Bluetooth. Either way, check out all the pictures in their full unedited 5 megapixel glory on my Flickr account.

One thing to remember, the device was a prototype! Image quality can and probably will change by the time retail units are out.

Stefan Constantinescu (@WhatTheBit on Twitter) has loved technology since as far back as he can remember. It started with computers, but in the past few years his passion has turned to mobile devices. As a mobile phone enthusiast who lives and breathes devices that connect to the internet, he knows he is not alone with this radical fascination of all things wireless. He is strongly opinionated and enjoys a good debate so leave comments in his posts and he’ll get back to you! Stefan began blogging as a hobby in the fall of 2006 and joined IntoMobile in the summer of 2007. Later he got a job at Nokia in March 2008, but as of June 2009 he has rejoined the IntoMobile team. He is currently based out of Helsinki, Finland.

Camera phones need image stabilisation… looking at the original size photos you can see that the images suffer from camera shake, which is understandable given how lightweight cameras are.

Camera shake is only an issue at slow shutter speeds. The slowest of those pictures was taken at 1/200th of a second (go to Flickr, and look at “more properties” for each photo), which is plenty fast enough to eliminate camera shake. So the evidence seems to me to be against Neil’s assertion of camera shake.
The N95 does have digital image stabilisation in video mode.
