Few days ago Stefan talked about the upcoming Motorola Z10. Before the American handset maker rushes in with the device, I figured I should drop my 2 cents what I would like to see in this phone.

Motorola Z10But first, let me remind you that as far as we know it should be very similar to the Z8 model, except it will have a better, 3.2 MP camera. That’s a good start, but it definitely won’t make me buy one. I need three things:

  • More available RAM to make applications run smoother
  • Built-in WiFi to enable VoIP with 3rd party apps such as Fring
  • Larger, at least 2.4″ screen – in comparison, the Z8 has a 2.2″ screen

In addition, faster processor and an integrated GPS receiver would also add few points in my book, and I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking among these lines. Any thoughts?

Wifi is a maybe, RAM is a maybe, GPS is not going to happen and screen size isn’t all that important to me to be honest.

RAM does not have a hit on “smoothness” in a Symbian/S60 device; it just allows you to run/have running more programs at the same time. If you want smoothness it’s the CPU and OS version you should keep your eyes on.

(Ok, having the SMS application running all the while will make the phone seem smoother -when- you want to access SMS’es, and things like that are made possible to a greater extent with more RAM).

Stefan…..I have been a supplier to Motorola for over 20 years, recently I had the opportunity to use a Z8 for a short perod of time. That by far was one of the best handsets I have used in years. Last end I went through 5 Razr’s all odd reasons, regardless it once again appears both the Z8 and now the Z10 will not be available in USA. Our market is tired of the Razr style. I now have a Moto Q9H, which is fine, but given the choice I would have purchased either handset in a heart beat.

Wait, ur saying that it won’t be available in the US at first? Or not ever? I’m alittle confused. I know everyones grown tired on the razr style but This isn’t a flip style phone. It may share some of the sleekness but the style is entirely different! I hope this becomes available in the USA! I know alot of people who would be upset if it isn’t.
