Sony Ericsson patents the peak-a-boo phone concept

Imagine you have a XX inch screen that pops up vertically from a handset, now what happens when you shove the screen back in? Instead of hiding the entire thing only a small window is left open for data to be displayed. It sounds complicated, but this image should make it easy for you and it boggles the mind that something like this can even be patented:

    I think this is more patent worthy than most. Btw, a friend of mine said he saw a presentation where the presenter said that a typical cell phone would include at least 40-50 patented elements, many of which are not OWNER BY THE MANAFACTURER. Just another insight into how complicated it may be to get a cellphone out, let alone with the feature set that everyone is shouting for. Cell phones are among, if not THE, most complicated pieces of consumer electronics out there.
