This is definitely a cool hardware hack. With megapixel counts on cameraphones growing ever larger, it seems illogical to fit these mobile phones with low-quality, crap plastic optics. Well, the guys over at Chaos Projects decided that they wanted to change this. They modded a Nokia 6280 to work with a Nikon SLR lens setup – resulting in an incredibly zoom-tastic mobile phone camera.
Of course, Nokia’s use of Carl-Zeiss optics basically negates the need for better optics on phones like the Nokia N95, but you can’t argue with 36x zoom. Check out the hack, pretty damn cool.
