The Cortex A8 isn’t even out yet and the A9 was just unveiled at the ARM Developers conference. Two versions will be released, a single and multi core variant. I want to know why this new processor is the bees knees, but this press release goes way over my head. Over across the pond Symbian just announced that they will support this new architecture and are actively cracking the whips on internal developers to get their operating system working on this recently announced performance beast. Actual devices based on all this techno-erotic-goodness will be released sometime in 2010. Devices with the Cortex A8 processor are due out next year.

Not only is your computer doubling in performance every 2 years, but that thing we so casually call a phone is also experiencing equal gains.

Update: This 11 page white paper should help you understand why this processor is off the hook and make fantastic bathroom reading material.
