The FAA has put their collective foot down on the whole in-flight cellphone calling deal. Basically reiterating the FCC’s ban on in-flight mobile phone calling, the FAA’s Les Dorr announced that the FAA will uphold their ban on in-flight mobile calls. Apparently, there was enough public outcry over the prospect of having to deal with the annoying phone-talker sitting in the next seat to compel the FAA to announce its redundant policy – the FAA can’t really ban in-flight calling any more than the FCC. When it comes to three-letter acronyms beginning with “F”, the FCC has considerably more say in whether mobile phones will be allowed to make calls on planes. But, hey, we’re not going to say the FAA can’t put in their two-cents.
