Back in July, we covered the neat service called DIR-ECT-IONS, which at that time allowed people to get directions via SMS in Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York. Now, they’ve announced a new expanded offering, allowing people across the U.S. to use their free service.

Dial DIR-ECT-IONS

The service is quite easy to use. From any mobile phone dial DIR-ECT-IONS (347-328-4667), tell your starting and destination address, and instantly receive a text message with Mapquest driving directions. In addition, you can ask for business chains — like Starbucks or Fedex — and receive directions to the closest location.

Finally, DIR-ECT-IONS also announced a new “mobile invitation” feature called Meet Me, enabling users to quickly create social events, invite friends, and send them directions.
