iPhone v1.1.3 firmware battery lifeHow’s that freshly jailbroken v1.1.3 iPhone treating you? It’s pretty nifty, eh? Oh wait, what’s that? Battery life seems to have taken a nose dive? It’s okay. Take a deep breath and try these tips:

  • Force-quit the iPhone Mail application everytime you’re done using it.
Apple designed the iPhone to run all applications in the background (when you’re not using it). This allows for multi-tasking and a speedy application start-up time. However, it seems that some people are experiencing an iPhone v1.1.3 glitch whereby the Mail application is continually pinging the mail server, even between mail-check intervals. A force-quite of the Mail application should stop it from continually checking the mail server.
  • Delete and re-sync all Mail accounts
Your iPhone will sync Mail accounts with your computer (check the “Sync Mail Accounts” checkbox in iTunes), so deleting your iPhone Mail accounts isn’t that big a deal. After deleting, sync your Mail with iTunes and you may notice inproved battery life.
  • Re-install/Restore iPhone firmware
We know, we know. It was a pain in the you-know-where to get the jailbroken iPhone v1.1.3 up and running, but if you really feel that your current iPhone battery life is unacceptable, give the restore-option a go.
