Well look who’s getting shut down again. Qualcomm, fresh off their recent lose to Nokia in a US ITC appeal, has again been served in the UK. This time, the UK High Court has ruled that, just as the US ITC did, Nokia has not violated any of Qualcomm’s GSM patents. Qualcomm sought an injunction against Nokia to stop the Finns from selling handsets that used GSM chipsets that allegedly infringed on Qualcomm patents.

Qualcomm loses battle to Nokia in UKWill there be another appeal? If Qualcomm truly believes they are in the right here, we might see another appeal on our hands. Of course, the chipmaker is also fighting this same battle in multiple countries around the world, so they might have enough on their plate.

We have to ask. How much is all this legal-jousting going to cost either side? Would it just make sense to come to terms on a licensing deal and just be done with it?
