With the Palm Treo 800w getting prepped to be released as the latest Windows Mobile 6.1-powered device from flagging handset manufacturer Palm, there’s not much else that Palm Treo fans are looking forward to. But, that might all change with this latest report from TamsPPC that Palm has opened up Windows Mobile development access to promotional materials for the Palm Zeppelin and Palm Skywriter.
The codename “Zeppelin” is the internal codename for the Palm Treo 800w, so there’s nothing new there. But, the appearance of the Palm “Skywriter” is definitely a new development. The image you see above is likely a mock-up (at least we hope it is…can you say ugly?) of the Palm Skywriter. What we’re hearing is that the Palm Skywriter will be a Palm Centro-like Windows Mobile device, so the consumer market is likely the target demographic.
Other speculation points to the Palm Skywriter being the same device as the mysterious GPS, WiFi and HSDPA-toting Palm Drucker that’s slated for the same launch window as the Palm Skywriter – July 2008. Note that the Palm Treo 800w is also expected to go live on July 22. WMExperts poses the possibility that the Palm Treo 800w could launch in both GSM and CDMA, which would agree with two separate codenames.

We’ll just have to wait and see…
