Gigabyte has unveiled three new Windows Mobile smartphones at this year’s Computex show in Taipei, Taiwan. All devices mentioned run Smart Touch graphic user interface on top of Microsoft’s mobile OS, to make things easier for the users.

Let’s briefly go through each one of the phones announced, shall we:

  • First comes the GSmart MS802, the device that is clearly a successor of the earlier MS800 model. It runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and among other things packs a 520 MHz CPU, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3.5G support. Additionally, EDGE version will also be released and will be called GSmart MW702.
  • Then goes the GSmart MS808 model designed with mobile TV in mind. This baby supports virtually every mobile TV standard out there — including DVB-T, DVB-H, T-DMB, and ISDB-T. There’s also GPS on-board, 3.5G support, Marvell’s PXA310 624 MHz, 2.8-inch touchscreen, and Windows Mobile 6.1.
  • Finally, there’s the 2008 Taiwan Excellence Silver Award Winner – GSmart MS820, and its EDGE version – MW720. It’s powered by a 520 MHz CPU, and also sports a 2.8-inch touchscreen, and a 3 megapixel camera. Windows Mobile 6.1 is running the show.

Unfortunately, we’re still waiting for Gigabyte to update it’s English language site with the new smartphones information. In the meantime, Unwired View’s article helped us in preparation of this article. And so was the press release, which follows right after jump.

PRESS RELEASE – GSmart, the leading mobile phone brand owned by the Taiwan-based GIGA-BYTE Communications Inc., is proud to present its 3.5G Windows Mobile PDA phones with brand new mobile TV and GPS series at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan. GSmart will also be introducing the exclusive Smart Touch graphic user interface and G-Sensor applications with the aim of promoting user friendliness.

MS808 is the world’s first 3.5G mobile TV phone supporting DVB-T, DVB-H, T-DMB, ISDB-T, and GPS. Also on show are HSPDA GPS devices, MS800, MS802 and MS820. The 2008 Taiwan Excellence Silver Award Winner – MS820 features the exclusive motion-sensing G-Sensor applications and games, and Smart Touch graphic user interface. MS802 is the next generation to MS800 and comes in style with 3 mega-pixel camera.

All GSmart phone models launched in 2008 will feature Smart Touch to offer users an easy-to-use interface. As GSmart uses modularized platforms, where all major features including modem (HSDPA, WCDMA, EDGE), TV, GPS/AGPS, and storage become optional, all its 2008 models are available in both 3.5G and EDGE. Buyers will have the freedom to choose different feature combinations to target market needs.

Dr. Stanley Jenq, Chief Executive Officer of GIGA-BYTE Communications said, “Following the success of the world’s first multi standards digital TV PDA phone, GSmart t600, we are leading the industry in delivering Mobile TV. With our new 3.5G TV and GPS series, and our modularized production system, we are offering smart technologies that will provide users with boundless mobility.”
