Mobile banking on it's way for Lloyds TSB customers...

Mobile banking here we come!

Lloyds TSB has announced that it is planning to launch a new service for its customers to manage their accounts via mobile.

The move will enable people to move money instantly between accounts held with the bank, view their account balances and check their last six transactions through their phone. Customers will also be able to top up their own or other people’s ‘pay as you go’ mobile phones from their current account when the service is launched in October.

There is already a text alert service for when you are “heading for red” in an account, or if a payment cannot be made due to lack of funds – but this new service will expand upon that substantially. Apparently the service will meet required security standards, requiring PIN code (or similar) type of entrance before the account can be viewed.

Hmmm interesting – given the popularity of Interweb banking, this could really take off. Lloyds are not usually an innovator in this space, so let’s see how the launch goes – I am sure there will be feedback not longer after….!
