Just when you thought the Defender Series was getting slim, OtterBox has gone down another notch with their new Impact Series for the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold. It looks like the Impact Series is just a rubber skin, while the Defender line had a hard plastic shell and clear screen protector to boot, but for what you lose in protection, you certainly make up for in portability. I’m still using the BlackBerry Bold Defender case we got for review, bulk be damned, but every once in awhile I do vaguely remember a time long ago when my phone was smaller than a TyTN. Then I get snapped back to the glorious reality where I can use my Bold as a hockey puck. Still, this Impact Series sounds pretty solid, and although it’s just a skin, it’s certainly a notch beefier than most other skins out there. Keep an eye out for a hands-on review soon.
