The new BlackBerry Curve came out on T-Mobile Germany earlier this week, but you might have heard that T-Mobile does a little bit of business the other side of the pond, too. Rumours are floating that the BlackBerry 8900 is coming to North American shores in the first quarter of 2009, likely from T-Mobile and hopefully Rogers, since it’s been on their roadmap since June. No word on pricing (Germans are getting it for next to nothing on contract), but the new Curve will well be worth having the Bold’s screen in a slimmer form factor and with a better camera, but no 3G continues to give the BlackBerry 9000 the edge.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement.
With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer. At IntoMobile, you can count on his posts being even-handed, well-informed and thought-out.
