Following on from my post about the launch of two new products from Vuzix, here’s a post with some more detail about the AV310 Widescreen model – the other model that accompanied the AV230XL on launch day. The headline for this model was the 16:9 (impressive!) widescreen – and for those fans of detail:

AV310 Widescreen:

  • Screen size equivalent to 52” viewed from 9 feet
  • Full 16:9 Widescreen Aspect Ratio
  • Made for iPod compatibility and works with iPhone
  • Compatibility with numerous mobile phones including N95, N96 and LG Viewty
  • Independent +2 to -5 diopter focus providing individual adjustment for each eye
  • Stereo 3D capable – Vuzix 3D watermark compliant
  • Accutilt viewer with 15 degrees of tilt adjustment
  • 5 hours battery life on one AA battery
  • On screen display to control settings
  • Removable comfort fit ear buds
  • Adjustable hypoallergenic nosepiece
  • Can be used with or without glasses
  • RRP £149.99 (until Jan 1, 2009)

This is also a nice bit of kit at a nice price – and again, I’d recommend checking them out from one of the following retailers (in the UK):

Stockists include 3 retail stores, Firebox.com, Play.com, Applestore.com/uk, Amazon.com or direct from www.vuzix.co.uk

(There will be a more detailed review coming from me in due course, once I get hold of the AV310 Widescreen model!)

Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas! He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to 'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device) isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question of why you continue to use it... His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.
