Rich media ad network, VideoEgg, has recently announced its new offering. The so called AdFrames for mobile is a performance-based ad offering that enables advertisers to “distribute invitation-based, expandable video or rich media ads to iPhone users.”

From the press release:

VideoEgg will offer mobile distribution across both applications and Web pages on the iPhone, and over time extend to other mobile platforms and devices. The mobile distribution channel is offered as part of VideoEgg’s comprehensive ad platform and will be included as a standard option on all large campaigns. The pricing model is based on cost per engagement (CPE), which delivers accountability and unmatched insight into ad effectiveness. Rich media ads are served for free and advertisers pay only when a user engages, providing a risk-free method to distributing highly targeted brand content.

In a nutshell, VideoEgg will be one of those companies that will make sure free apps stay free. The only difference you will notice, and which will annoy you for sure, are the ads. In addition, VideoEgg will push its ads through optimized-for-iPhone websites, as well.

Some of the apps that feature (or will feature in the near future) VideoEgg ads include GasBag, Hangman, Scribble, iGolf, TouchHockey, Tic Tac Free and MarbleMash. On the other hand, two brands that are among the first to leverage AdFrames’ mobile distribution are Nikon and Ubisoft Canada.
