GiftCertificates.com is joining the iPhone wave with the launch of the free GiftCards application. Their unique pitch? Allow users to select, personalize, and purchase gift cards without the need to go to an outside website.

Developed in partnership with by Trillusion Media, the GiftCards app features all GiftCertificates.com’s categories such as clothing, department stores, electronics, entertainment, health and beauty, home, kids and toys, jewelry, restaurants, shoes & accessories, specialty, sports, and travel — as well as “browse by brand” categorization.

Both physical and e-Gift cards can be purchased from the app, and each one can be personalized using contacts from the address book. The GiftCards application also utilizes the built-in GPS receiver of the iPhone 3G to show the nearest location of a vendor’s store.

Commenting on the announcement, the company’s CEO Gary Krow said: “By making it easier for our customers to access the GiftCertificates.com marketplace, the GiftCards application enhances our customers’ online shopping experience and positions us to better serve them in the mobile future.”
