A little bit sooner than Friday, BlackBerry Storms are available in Telus stores right now for $249.99 on a three-year contract or $599.99 without a contract. After a few calls around Ottawa, I’m hearing stock is extremely limited, so unless you were on a preorder, it might take a few weeks for fresh units to come in. Now we’re just holding out on an announcement from Bell, as they were supposed to launch at around the same time. We hear the software is version .76, the same upgrade that got pushed out to Verizon customers last week. Hopefully that will improve performance and get this smartphone under a couple Christmas trees. To get yours, hop on over to the Telus online store.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
