It turns out that crazy spinning handset spotted last week isn’t Palm’s Roteo at all, but the COMPAL Tabasco, with a front-facing video camera, a rear 3.2 megapixel still camera with flash and optical zoom, 5″ touchscreen, and measurements estimated at around 160 (W) x 85 (H) x 33 (D) mm. It’s one beefy phone, especially when put next to the LG Prada, but this sucker is falling more in line with the mobile internet device category (bordering on UMPCs) than smartphones. It’s possible that we might see this thing being exhibited at CES by Marasst, but odds are slim. There isn’t much more about specs to say, as this is a non-working prototype, and possibly exists just to show off a creative design team. What do you guys think – is this T-swivel thing a viable form factor for mobiles?
