Pink iPhone 3G on eBay Causes a Mild Stir

Earlier this morning a Pink iPhone 3G popped up on eBay. You can check out the auction here. Immediately when I read this, and checked out the device for myself… I thought ‘Ok, that’s gotta be a Colorware modded device’. Colorware offers some great color customizations for many popular handsets, including the iPhone 3G.

To my surprise however, it has been reported that the device is not via Colorware, and that the standard print on the back of the iPhone has been reprinted over top of the not so hot looking pink color.

Who knows for sure what the deal is here, but you can be assured it has some folks wondering if new colors of the iPhone 3G will be unveiled at Macworld… That, together with all of the iPhone Nano rumors have things shaping up nicely for a good show, despite the absence of Steve Jobs.

I suspect that this one was done by hand, or it is simply a replacement cover with the normal details inked onto the back cover with care. In fact, such replacement covers are already available. Probably nothing to write home about here, but interesting nonetheless.
