Virtual DJ turns Windows Mobile users into the life of the party

Mobile phones are replacing dedicated MP3 players as music-players of choice for gym-goers and last-minute party throwers. So much so that it’s not out of the ordinary to see a cellphone hooked up to a stereo at a party. There is even an iPhone application that lets users mix their music library in real-time. But, why should iPhone users have all the fun?

For you party-throwing, smartphone-using music lovers out there, the new WinMo application Virtual DJ could be your new best friend. Virtual DJ turns you and your Windows Mobile smartphone into the life of the party. The new app allows you to take your on-device music library and “compile and edit playlists, mix mp3s in realtime, both fully automatic, and manually.” And, with touchscreen support that lets you, the virtual “maestro,” control an on-screen mixing console, Virtual DJ opens up a world of music-mixing fun.

The on-screen buttons and sliders work fairly well. If you’ve ever played with a real mixing console (and even if you’ve never seen a set of turn-tables), you’ll feel right at home with Virtual DJ. Or, if you’re just looking to liven up your next party with custom mixes, faders, and real-time music editing, Virtual DJ might fit the bill.

Virtual DJ is available as a free trial download here.
