OK so perhaps the start of a new thread of posts for me – but there is such a HUGE amount of good music for your mobile out there right now, I figured it would be worth highlighting some tracks that are currently playing on my iPhone, and which I bought through iTunes.

Of course, it’s not as it once was, because iTunes have lifted DRM-lock, meaning you can get the tracks inside it for any player now, not just the iPod/iPhone – as long as your player is supporting AAC-LC format.

Right, onward and upward – first track that gets a mention is:

Another Dimension – Timmy Vegas and Bad Lay-Dee – just so we are clear, this track is a club banger! I can detect at least 2 samples/interpretations, but there’s a possible 3 actually – can you hear:

  • Intergalactic – Beastie Boys (Lyrics)
  • Gypsy Woman – Crystal Waters (Keys)
  • The Power! – Snap (Percussion)

There could be some other stuff in there too! Let me know if you can hear something else. This is a HARD HARD track, with excellent mashup characteristics. Nice.

Camera Phone – The Game and Ne-YoI already posted on this – but check it out, a proper Rap and RnB collaboration that doesn’t disappoint. I’m buying the LAX album from The Game off the back of this single…

You Got the Love (Extended New Voyager Mix) – The Source ft. Candi Staton – how many remixes have there been of this song over the years? I have three I think! Anyway, this proves the effect of subliminal advertising, as I’ve been hearing this mix over the last couple of weeks – but I can’t remember where! No matter, this little-played mix (it’s not the same as the shorter New Voyager mix) is a beautiful dance track. I wish all music was this good. Candi Staton, what a legendary voice!

If you have any recommendations of tracks you think we should all be listening to on our mobile devices, leave a comment with the track details (title and artist), where we can get it, and why we should buy it :-)

You can get iTunes here.
