Do you remember a while back (here), I posted about djay software? It’s some incredibly cool software that allows you to DJ with your iTunes libray on the Mac. If you have a new MacBook Pro, add a USB sound adapter, and also re-buy available chunks of your purchases from iTunes in DRM-free format, then you have full pre-cueing capability, recording, and playout!

What does that mean? Basically in a laptop you have a FULL DJ setup, complete with multitouch for this funky FX!

A lot of the multitouch was added in the last version of djay, but the newest version also contains a linkup to allow you to broadcast your mixes i.e. you are now an internet radio station!

djay-software

algoriddim has released version 2.3 of djay, its intuitive DJ software for iTunes. The new version now integrates with Nicecast from Rogue Amoeba, allowing users to easily broadcast their DJ mix online to listeners around the world and making djay the perfect solution for online radio DJs or anyone who wants to broadcast their favorite music.
With Nicecast, djay can be used to broadcast music to all major online radio networks including Live365, Shoutcast and Icecast. The seamless integration of Nicecast and djay makes setup easy. After selecting djay as the music source in Nicecast, information about the current song will be provided to listeners automatically. Users can play and mix music live, or enable djay’s Automix mode to mix any playlist from iTunes automatically with DJ-style transitions.

In addition to the integration with Nicecast, djay 2.3 includes a new power button for each turntable, which precisely simulates how real turntables gradually slow down the record when being turning off. And a new Auto Select mode for djay’s Pre-Cueing feature allows users to automatically listen to one turntable on their headphones while the other is playing through the main speakers. With this, selecting and preparing a new song from the integrated iTunes library becomes even easier than before.
Pricing and Availability

djay is available for $49.99 or €39.99 as an immediate download from the algoriddim website, or as a high-quality product box from the Apple Online Store and Apple Retail Stores worldwide. For more information and to download a free demo, please visit www.djay-software.com. Nicecast is available for $40 as an immediate download from the Rogue Amoeba website at www.rogueamoeba.com.

And so we come to the killer point that I raised before…. where’s the iPhone version? There are some trivial scratching vinyl apps on the iPhone, but nothing anywhere near this – this is proper DJing software! Could you imagine perhaps an iPhone remote to the main DJay console, using WiFi… other options? Ooooooooooh yes!
