préDevCamp

We’ve seen this happening with the iPhone (iPhoneDevCamp) and now Palm Pre is following the suit. Fans of the device, who are not officially affiliate with Palm, are organizing events for application developers called preDevCamp. I said “events” as in plural, meaning there will be not one but few events organized to support Pre software developers, whether they want to rely on Mojo SDK or traditional web standards.

According to one of the organizers, the event is currently being planned in over 60 cities around the world. It all starts one week after the Pre U.S. release and registrations are broken down by city.

Attendees will include mobile developers, web developers, UI designers, and testers — all working together over the weekend. Development projects will include both solo and team efforts, and all attendees should be prepared to work on a development project during the event whether they want to create new or migrate existing apps to the new Palm’s platform. Finally, testers are there to help remove bugs and optimize apps to run smoother.

Interested? preDevCamp has the official website where you can get more details. Alternatively, the organizers are on twitter.com at @whurley, @giovanni, and @dancrumb.

Dusan Belic

Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.
