Watchmen is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated movie releases of 2009. Legions of fans have been waiting to put eyes on the graphic novel-turned-movie since last year, and the hype is building to a frenzy. So, it’s befitting that the much-hyped Watchmen movie is getting a little positive PR from the likewise-hyped iPhone. Thanks to Legion Games the iPhone will soon has its own Watchmen MMO (massively multi-player online) game in just a few days time. Watchmen: Justice is Coming looks to place iPhone users in the “Watchmen world” with customizable characters that can do battle with other players, on a whim.
The idea behind the iPhone game is to bring together a community of Watchmen fans and let them do battle on the streets of New York City, circa 1975. Users can dress up their characters in customized garb, and can then roam the authentic-looking environment looking to pick a fight. The iPhone will see the launch of the Watchmen MMO iPhone game alongside the movie’s debut on March 6.
Given the near-term launch date, we’d have expected Watchmen: Justice is Coming to be fully polished and free from the kind of jerky graphics and limited game-play that we see in this G4Tv’s preview of the game. Of course, we won’t know for sure just how good (or bad) the game is until we actually get some hands-on time with the game.
