In a surprising (possible) turn of events, the Samsung Omnia HD that we thought was a Symbian S60-exclusive smartphone may actually play nice with Windows Mobile. During a dealer conference in Amsterdam, Samsung showed off their upcoming handsets in a Powerpoint slide. Samsung’s 2009 product lineup will apparently include a Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Samsung Omnia HD.

Is that the Samsung Omnia HD? (Top, third column from left)

If true, we’ll likely see the WinMo variant of the Samsung Omnia HD featuring much the same feature-set as its Symbian-powered sibling. Release dates and prices aren’t mentioned, but you can bank on seeing the Windows Mobile Samsung Omnia HD launching with an 8-megapixel camera and full 720p HD video recording at 24fps!
