Verizon Wireless has made a significant step towards their 4G LTE network deployment with today’s announcement of LTE network specs. The commercial launch of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is still a year or so away, and the newly released LTE network-spec will give hardware manufacturers a head-start on their 4G-compatible hardware. LTE will be using their recently-acquired 700Mhz spectrum to deploy their next-generation LTE mobile broadband network.

Verizon’s network specifications set guidelines for wireless data transmission and access over the carrier’s future LTE network. More details on Verizon’s LTE network will be revealed on May 13 during a web conference.

Verizon’s CEO was recently heard hinting at an LTE-capable iPhone in the future, which makes the release of LTE specs all that more intriguing. It would be a much welcomed surprise to see Apple and Verizon launching an LTE iPhone in 2010!
