WeROK screenROK Entertainment Group and the company behind the global community-based WiFi network, WeFi, launched mobile portal called WeROK, with an idea to provide mobile phone users with an array of services such as low-cost SMS, mobile email, free mobile TV, and mobile social networking.

At the moment, WeROK is designed as an application for Symbian S60 smartphone, but it can also be accessed through a computer. We’ve no doubts that, if proves successful, other platforms will get dedicated apps in the near future.

Commenting on the announcement, ROK Entertainment Group’s Jonathan Kendrick said: “WeROK is a unique development and a giant leap forward in mobile and web convergence. It’s an advertising-funded mobile services application which enables handsets to automatically and seamlessly access Wi-Fi zones in order to route mobile activities via the Internet.”

The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.

    Hello Interested Observer,

We are confident WeROK will prove hugely popular. After all, it’s free broadband/mobile convergence. We will report user uptake figures regularly – before the end of May.

Have you tried WeROK yet? All you need is a Nokia S60 and access to wi-fi.

    Feedback much appreciated.

Interesting, I wonder if they plan to pay all the staff they left months unpaid last year with the profits?
