The new iPhone 3GS has been unveiled with the upgraded guts to fend off the likes of the Palm Pre from overtaking its smartphone throne.
The iPhone 3GS proved to be more of an evolutionary update to the iPhone 3G, than the game-changer that we had hoped Apple would launch. The iPhone 3GS sports a faster processor and double the RAM (256MB) of the iPhone 3G, allowing for at least twice the number-crunching performance as the iPhone 3G. And with an upgraded 3.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus video recording, the new iPhone 3GS is a solid smartphone.
Still, the all-new Palm Pre is seriously threatening the iPhone’s dominance as the most popular consumer smartphone in the US. The Palm Pre’s 600Mhz ARM Cortex A8 processor has what it take to speed the Pre through daily tasks. And the WebOS’s ability to truly multi-task and run applications in the background gives the Palm Pre a very tall leg-up on the iPhone 3GS and it’s Push Notification system. Don’t forget that the Palm Pre has been selling like hotcakes across the US.
What say you, dear reader? Is the iPhone 3GS enough to keep you enchanted, or has new Palm Pre’s multi-tasking siren call already captured your heart?
