You may (or may not) have noticed that I wasn’t around IntoMobile much this past weekend. As we do every year, my lady and I put on our volunteering hats to help run the signage crew at the Manitoba Marathon. The gig involves an all-nighter, driving around town, putting signs up all over the 26.2 mile marathon route to help the runners navigate the course. Thankfully everything went off without a hitch, and it was another successful event.

With marathoning on the brain, on Sunday (while relaxing after no sleep for quite some time) I popped open the App Store to see if there were any tools or games for iPhone available to the Marathon runner. As expected, a few apps did come up, but one in particular caught my eye that was kind of fun, and for a good cause.

Finger Marathon II from Source Digital challenges you to run a ‘virtual’ marathon using your fingers like legs running across the top of your iPhone. The game is simple, and no real explanation of how to play is necessary… It’s fun to see just how fast you can complete the race distance.

A ‘Lite’ edition of this game is available for free (iTunes Link), but if you like it, I encourage you to pick up the full version for $0.99 (iTunes Link). Proceeds from the sale of the app go towards Mind, the leading mental health charity in England & Wales. The full version also has an online leaderboard that allows you to see where you place in relation to other finger marathoners :)

Don’t cramp up now. Happy running.
