Formula 1 fans are well aware that the Brawn F1 team are leading the Drivers AND Constructors Championship this year. Not only that, but it looks like they’ve already won another race… the race to bring the first worthwhile F1 racing simulation to the iPhone!

This is welcome news for the F1 fan for sure. I mean, there are a plethora of news and live timing apps out there, but I know many a fan has been waiting ever-so-patiently for an F1 simulation to arrive. And now, finally, it’s here.

The good news is so far GP Racing is getting solid reviews. The controls are simple and easy to get the hang of. Brake pedal is on your left, gas on the right, and tilt/twist your iPhone or iPod Touch to steer your Brawn GP car around the track. Easy. Or at least, you hope it’s easy :)

GP Racing features realistic 3G graphics, dual camera angles and stunning lighting effects. There’s a global leaderboard available which allows you to compare your times to racers around the world. Additionally, this one also offers Facebook and Twitter support so that you can tell your friends about it, or simply brag about your latest hot lap.

The only somewhat dark spot for GP Racing at the moment is the lack of tracks. At the moment you can only drive on a ‘London’ track, but according to the developers 3 more tracks will become available in the near future. Hopefully everyone involved does a solid job of keeping this one up-to-date and on the cutting edge. Would be nice to see many more features built-in to this one. She’s just a baby, has a long way to go, but I’m pleased as heck to finally see a genuine F1 sim on the iPhone.

You can grab GP Racing for $3.99 at the App Store (iTunes link).
