Just a very quick update on a post I wrote the other day – previously, ALK Technologies had announced that its CoPilot Live satellite navigation system had been approved for sale via the iPhone App Store and is now available in UK – well now it’s available in the US version of the App Store too!
ALK Technologies today announced that the North American version of its CoPilot Live GPS navigation system has been approved for sale on the iPhone App Store and is available immediately for iPhone 3G and 3Gs for a one-time fee of just $34.99. Detailed street maps of USA and Canada are stored on the phone – not downloaded each trip, so there’s no need for extra hardware and no monthly fees.
The announcement coincides with the news that CoPilot Live has raced to become #1 paid navigation app and has moved into the top 20 of all paid apps in the United Kingdom in just 1 week since launch.
CoPilot Live is available to buy immediately from iTunes and iPhone App Store. Special offer pricing at launch is $34.99 for maps of USA and Canada. Pricing is for unlimited use, with no on-going fees or subscriptions. For more information about CoPilot Live visit www.copilotlive.com/iphone
So there you have it – what looks like a great App, now available in the US, as well as the UK! I hope to be doing a review of it soon, so I’ll let you know what it’s like!

Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career
when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has
now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the
next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas!
He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently
became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years
when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to
'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make
your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device)
isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question
of why you continue to use it...
His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and
infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the
occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience
in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with
regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.
