If you’ve been feeling a bit burned by AT&T’s decision to give iPhone customers free access to its network of 20,000 WiFi hotspots across the US, today is a good day for you. AT&T has announced that it will be giving its Windows Mobile smartphone customers the same access to AT&T WiFi HotSpots in the US. With Windows Mobile 6.5 expected to hit market a little over a month from now, AT&T looks to be embracing smartphone customers from all walks of life.
The free WiFi offer will be extended to WinMo users starting September 14th. AT&T says that “customers with Wi-Fi-enabled Windows Mobile smartphones and unlimited and other qualifying data plans will receive unlimited access to thousands of U.S. AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots nationwide.” And, just like the iPhone, compatible Windows Mobile handsets will automatically log-in to AT&T WiFi HotSpot locations.
AT&T will launch their Windows Mobile WiFi initiative with Samsung smartphones on 9/14, with other smartphones to follow shortly after. All Windows Mobile 6.5 phones will be supported.
Windows Mobile users are finally getting some love from AT&T. That makes us all warm and fuzzy inside.
