So, this is interesting. Via an ‘indirect partner retail dealer’ tipster over at PreCentral, we’ve learned that the Palm Pre may indeed be taking a price cut. From September 8th through October 31st. According to the tipster, ‘Indirect partners’ may start pushing the Pre for $149.99 after a mail-in rebate. Groovy. No details on the exact ‘why’ of the price drop, but one has to think the HTC Hero arriving at Sprint for $179.99 has something to do with it.

Let’s chalk this up as rumor for now, but a very credible one. If the details are true, we should be able to pick up a Pre from Sprint’s partners like Best Buy Mobile starting… my gosh, tomorrow! We’ll have to keep our ears to the ground for more on this one!

Note: If you’ve already bought your Pre… sorry, you can’t get any money back. That’s the price you paid to enjoy the Pre so far.

Note, Note: If you take a closer look, you may notice some other discounts… Plus, numerous now discontinued phones available for free on any plan, while inventories last…

This is not correct. That is not an official Sprint anything. If this company is wanting to just eat $150 of the phone price they can. Or perhaps whoever put the pricing into this spreadsheet mistakenly put that down as a Pre Promo.

The Palm Treo Pro is going to be $149.99 after $100 mail in rebate, but not the Pre.
