Rogers Soft Launches 15 GB / $150 Wireless Plan

Although you wouldn’t be able to tell from their website, Rogers has begun rolling out a new data plan for 15 GB at $150/month, hinted at earlier this summer. I gave Rogers a call to see what’s up, and apparently they’re just soft-launching it for now to guage interest, which, as you can imagine, might be fleeting. The only instance one could imagine such a plan having any appeal whatsoever is if the customer is packing a Rocket Stick and use it as a primary internet connection for relatively heavy-duty use, or split it among multiple users. Data costs 1 cent/MB if you somehow manage to go over your 15 GB limit. Currently, the 6 GB/$30 plan should handle the overwhelming majority of smartphone users, but apparently the promotional price will be running out on September 24th. What do you guys think – $150 is pretty insane for an individual to be shelling out every month, but is there a corporate need for this volume of wireless data?

But, Rogers is still selling their “Flex Rate” data plan, so how does this make sense?

According to their marketing material, I should be able to push well over 150GB in a month without pushing my monthly cost over $100.

that deal is exponentially illogical. i mean if 6GB costs $30 a month then 15GB should cost $75 not $150. i mean it dont make no sense to me someone must have messed up their math in there. i would just buy two sim cards and get 12GB for $60.

$30/6gb plan is only available for iphones and androids as promotional rate, the regular price for 500mb is $25 and 5gb for $80. so charging $150 for 15gb makes perfect sense for fuc..ed up rogers.
screw them! bring some competition to gsm market in canada! until then rogers would be able to charge whatever they want…

@Oration What Simon left out was that the Maximum cost is now going to be at 500$ now instead of 100$…fuck I hate Rogers…Since Ted died it’s going down hill….

@Jay Get 2 Sim cards while you can and just make sure you monitor your data…

My Comment: Rogers is going downhill fast…..
