BlackBerry-Ebay2

You might have caught wind of the eBay app from the BlackBerry Developer Conference – well, it’s available now for download, allowing you to watch auctions, place bids, receive notifications of being outbid right in your Messages app, and enjoy native Calendar integration for reminders. Notifications all take advantage of the new push services, so you get notified of being outbid the second it happens, not five minutes after the auction’s wrapped up. eBay for BlackBerry works with PayPal, as you’d expect, but I wonder if there’s BlackBerry Wallet integration, too… There was talk at BBDC about the Wallet being linked to in-app purchaces. Anyway, see more of the eBay app and get downloading in the BlackBerry App World, or head over to eBay to see their other mobile offers.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
