In the flurry of Google announcements yesterday, one story made it through the cracks: real-time search results for Android and iPhone. In short, Google is including a little ticker in searches for hot, current topics that includes super-recent content from blogs, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca. This can be great for breaking news that will come from on-the-scene sources before it gets chewed through bigger media and eventually indexed. Latest results can also give a heads-up on small, local stories that might not make it to a blog or news site. It makes sense to see Google getting cozy with Twitter, given its explosion in the last year and main stream visibility with #IranElection. If you’d like to see the new feature in action now, some of the trends already have it implements, just look for Latest results.
