Last week, Industry Canada gave burgeoning wireless service provider, wind Mobile, the green light to begin operations, and at the following press conference, wind said they would be launching “as soon as next week”. Well, I’m hearing from a few people that the imminent launch is in fact happening tomorrow. On the one hand, it sounded a bit like wishful thinking when the execs said they would be able to get their stores up and running in time for Christmas, but if you take into account they have basically had everything ready to go up until the CRTC blockage, all that really had to be done was the flip of a switch and some personnel scrambling. The announcement this morning of wind’s Blockbuster partnership adds some credence to the rumours of a proper launch soon by locking down the locations of their stores in Toronto and Calgary. If you happen to be in either area, here’s the list – check ‘em out tomorrow to see if wind is, in fact, ready for business.
