Samsung’s announcement of their brand new operating system, bada, was largely vague and uninteresting, mostly since there were no devices or screenshots to consider, but a few screenshots have bubbled up and given us something to chew on. At first glance, it reminds me a lot of Symbian, though you can definitely spot elements of the other popular operating systems in there. What do you guys think? Anything to get excited about? You can find out more about the ongoing project at bada.com.

I kinda got a boner, not really tho. I imagine it will be pretty and even nice to use. But i’ve seen how horribly Samsung pulled off the Brew OS based Instinct HD. Too buggy, too slow, horrible switching from one application to another. So, it would be nice to see another entrant into the already crowded OS space. But my heart is still with WebOS and secondly Android. I have a Pixi and a G1. Honestly my favorite phone hardware is the Instinct HD, but it should have had Android on it. I’m not even thrilled with Android as I am WebOS. But it would have been better than that buggy crap they are selling for $250.

I think Bada’s not going to be a winner – there is nothing disruptive here. Based on the screens above, it’s just a clone of the competition. So, unless they really shake things up, it’ll end up being just another OS Samsung is using – and they already have a selection don’t they?
